on Wednesday fired national head coach Kenji Yoshida and has named Croatian Zeljko Pavlicevic as the leading candidate to replace him.
Pavlicevic, 51, who guided Yugoslavian side Pop 84 Split to European Cup success in 1991 and has a wealth of experience at club level in Greece and Croatia, is due to arrive in Japan for negotiations in the next few days.
