Ai Fukuhara, at 13 the youngest-ever Japanese representative for the Asian Games, crashed out of the Ogimura Cup table tennis competition on Friday with a first-round defeat.

Fukuhara, ranked 68th in the world, fell to 153rd-ranked Laura Stumper of Germany 11-13, 12-10, 11-13, 11-9, 11-8, 6-11, 11-6 in a seven-game match in the women's singles before reaching the doubles quarterfinals by teaming up with An Konishi.

Fukuhara and Konishi beat Singapore's Zhang Xueling and Xin Xing Xing 11-7, 11-6, 9-11, 11-6, 11-6 in the annual tournament, which is part of the International Table Tennis Federation's professional tour.
