Yes. You can read up to 20 stories per month, free of charge; however, a free membership is required to read more than five. If you'd like to read more than 20 stories, you'll need to apply for a digital subscription.
The Digital plan costs ¥3,000 ($30) per month and allows unlimited access to all stories. It is renewed automatically.
The Digital Lite plan costs ¥900 ($9) per month and allows access to 80 stories a month, including 10 Kyodo archive stories (older than one month).
