Tokyo Gov. Yuriko Koike is expected to continue governing under her three-party ruling alliance during the regular session of the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly slated to start on Sept. 24.
The session will be the first since June's quadrennial assembly election, in which the regional party Tomin First no Kai (Tokyoites first group), for which Koike serves as special adviser, regained its position as the largest force in the assembly. The coalition consists of Tomin First, the Liberal Democratic Party and Komeito.
Attention is also turning to whether Koike will seek cooperation with the Democratic Party for the People (DPP), which won its first seats in the metropolitan assembly.
