The number of severely ill COVID-19 patients in Tokyo fell by four from Monday to zero on Tuesday, marking the first time there were no patients with severe symptoms in the capital since the metropolitan government began compiling statistics in April 2020.

Tokyo reported 1,528 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, down by about 300 from a week before, with the capital's downtrend in new cases extending for over a month.
