Three Japanese students died in a single-car accident Monday on a highway in Honolulu, according to a local report.

Authorities said two of the students have been identified as Takumi Yamamoto, 19, and Norihito Shigeta, 20, the report said, adding that speed may have been a factor in the accident involving a car that crashed into a tree and a wall.

An official of Tokai University in Japan said the two were students at Hawaii Tokai International College.

The identity of the remaining victim has yet to be confirmed, the report said.
