A 25-year-old woman was arrested Tuesday after a dismembered body was discovered in her home, police said Tuesday.

The gruesome find was made in her house in Shisui, Chiba Prefecture, in a residential area about 2 km southwest of Shisui Station on the JR Narita Line.

The police said Emi Takeuchi has admitted carving up the body about two weeks ago.

Although the body has not officially been identified, officers said it is likely to be that of Takeuchi's 21-year-old brother, with whom she shared the home.

An acquaintance of the man reported him missing Monday afternoon, telling the police he had been unreachable since the end of August.

The police asked Takeuchi if they could enter the house to conduct a search on Monday and found a bag containing body parts in a living room on the building's second floor.

Other bags were later identified in the room. They contained the victim's head, legs and other extremities.
