Staff at children’s day care centers may receive pay rises of around 4 percent as the government tries to tackle long waiting lists at such facilities and unhappiness in the profession. The hike, which represents an additional ¥12,000 per month, is planned for fiscal 2017.
The government says it is strengthening support for parents with young children who may be unable to work because they cannot find nursery vacancies.
