Fujitsu Ltd. on Wednesday announced the recall of around 20,000 battery packs used in its Lifebook laptop computers as they could catch fire, although it has received no reports of this having happened.

Fujitsu recalled around 70,000 battery packs used in Lifebooks in August last year for the same reason.

The company expanded its recall Wednesday after the manufacturer of the packs, Panasonic Corp., last month announced a recall of 17,613 batteries.

Newly subject to recalls are battery packs used in 18 models of the Lifebook laptop series sold in 2013 and 2014.
