Six Australians were found Tuesday night after going missing earlier in the day in a mountainous area near Mount Nekomagatake in Fukushima Prefecture, police said.

The four men and two women, who were visiting the Urabandai Nekoma ski resort in the village of Kitashiobara, have been safely rescued, the police said.

The six are believed to have entered a no-go zone near the 1,404-meter mountain Tuesday, according to the ski resort.

One of the six had called a family member, who was staying at a nearby accommodation facility, to ask for help. It was foggy there at the time, according to the ski resort.
