Police arrested a 27-year-old man from Kasugai, Aichi Prefecture, on suspicion of robbing a ramen shop and killing an employee.

Ryota Miyaji, who had been questioned by police regarding the case on Monday, ran away from the Kasugai Police Station. The police had him on the wanted list and were searching for him.

According to investigators, Miyaji was found hiding in the garden of his parents' house in Kishiwada, Osaka Prefecture. He admitted to the charges, they said.

Miyaji was arrested for allegedly breaking into the ramen shop in Kasugai on the morning of Sept. 24, fatally beating employee Noriaki Ogihara, 35, severely wounding another 39-year-old staffer and taking some ¥2.5 million from a safe in the store.

Investigators said Miyaji used to work at the shop until August and had money trouble with the employer.

They said they found ¥1.95 million that was supposedly taken from the shop at the house of Miyaji's relative in Osaka. While he was working at the ramen shop, Miyaji was entrusted with the key to the safe several times a year when his supervisors went on leave, police sources said.
