A 56-year-old Toyama Prefecture woman was arrested Wednesday after she told investigators that she killed her 84-year-old father and covered his corpse with concrete in the yard of her house, police said.

Hiromi Kawabuchi, an office worker in the city of Takaoka in the prefecture, was quoted by investigators as saying: "(I) killed my dad, dumped his body in the yard and poured raw concrete over it."

She turned herself in to the police at 5 a.m. on Tuesday.

Based on her account, the police discovered the body of Saburo Kawabuchi. No major injuries were found on his body, and it still remains unclear how the daughter killed her father, the police said.

Her motive may be a financial one, the police said, quoting the woman as telling investigators: "I killed him because I used up his pension money and he was beginning to find that out."

The two were living together. Police plan to conduct an autopsy on the father, whose body was found in hardened concrete.
