An advance team from Japan’s Self-Defense Forces arrived Wednesday morning in Kathmandu to provide medical relief in Nepal, and deteriorating hygiene heightened disease risks after Saturday’s massive earthquake.

Col. Hirohide Nakagawa, who leads the SDF medical relief team, said, “We hope to do a good job by closely collaborating with relevant organizations and militaries from various countries.”
