Heavy snow is expected to fall Wednesday in wide areas in the Kanto region, including Tokyo's 23 wards, with the weather agency alerting commuters in the capital over possible disruptions of public transportation.

According to the Meteorological Agency, low atomospheric pressure is moving from the Tokai region in central Japan toward the Kanto region, and it is expected to bring heavy snow in Yamanashi Prefecture as well as the Tama area in the outskirts of Tokyo and the Chichibu area in Saitama Prefecture.

Areas in the Kanto plain, including the capital's 23 wards, may see 5 to 15 cm of snow by Wednesday evening, the agency said, urging commuters to factor in the change in weather conditions.
