Fujitsu Ltd. said on Monday it has nominated Tatsuya Tanaka, senior vice president in charge of Asian operations, as its new president, replacing Masami Yamamoto, who has promoted the firm's structural reforms since taking the post in 2010.

Tanaka, 58, will assume the presidency and Yamamoto, 61, will become chairman after getting approval from the company's board following a shareholders' meeting June 22, the company said.

Tanaka, a native of Fukuoka Prefecture, joined Fujitsu in 1980 after graduating from Tokyo University of Science, and took his current post last April.
