A new hotel adjacent to the Universal Studios Japan theme park in Osaka will offer visitors an unusual ride: an elevator that looks like a time machine.

The Park Front Hotel at Universal Studios Japan, operated by Tokyu Hotels, is currently under construction and is due to open next summer, park operator USJ Co. and Tokyu Hotels Co. said.

USJ is trying to boost ticket sales at the park, where a new attraction opened recently based on the world of Harry Potter. The British wizard has conjured up an increase in visitors, both Japanese and foreign, the park and hotel operators said Monday.

The 28-story hotel will be the fifth official USJ hotel and is the closest to the theme park.

It will offer 598 guest rooms, from the fourth floor upward, all with American-style interiors. The top floor will have two suites of around 90 sq. meters each.
