A writer who goes by the pseudonym Minori Kitahara was released Saturday after being arrested on suspicion of displaying salacious objects at her adult entertainment shop, investigative sources said Sunday.

The writer, whose real name is Minori Watanabe, was arrested last Wednesday together with a female cartoonist who works under the name of "Rokudenashi-ko" (good-for-nothing girl). Watanabe initially kept silent but eventually owned up to the charge, the sources said.

Prosecutors sought to detain her longer but she was released Saturday after a court turned down their request.

The cartoonist, whose real name is Megumi Igarashi, was arrested on suspicion of distributing data that could be used by a 3-D printer to produce a model of her genitals. She was arrested in July for similar reasons and released later.

Igarashi has denied her artwork is obscene, the sources said.
