The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Organizing Committee on Tuesday appointed Athens Olympic hammer throw champion Koji Murofushi as the sports director for the 2020 Games.
The job entails coordinating between different sports federations and national Olympic committees. Murofushi, who is an unusual choice for the position as an active competitor, received his commission from organizing committee Chairman Yoshiro Mori at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government building.
