Honda Motor Co. said Thursday that it will recall 27,887 of its Odyssey minivans in the United States and other countries to repair a defective electrical component in the side curtain airbag system.

The faulty component could prevent the airbag system from properly deploying, although there have been no reports of injuries or accidents linked to the fault, the company said.

Of the affected vehicles of the 2014 model-year Odyssey, the Japanese car maker will recall 24,889 in the U.S. market and 1,501 in Canada.

In a time of both misinformation and too much information, quality journalism is more crucial than ever.
