Falsely labeled food items have been confirmed at 307 restaurants and other businesses belonging to 23 industry bodies including department store and hotel associations, a government survey showed Monday.

The government survey was reported at a meeting of senior officials from the ministries and agencies concerned, including the Consumers Affairs Agency, held Monday at the prime minister's office.

Among the 23 industry groups are the Japan Department Stores Association, the Japan Hotel Association, the Japan Supermarkets Association, the Japanese Conveyor-Belt Sushi Society and the Japan Sake and Shochu Makers Association.
