Honda Motor Co.'s Fit compact remained the best-selling car on the domestic market in November for the second straight month after the hybrid model was fully renovated in September, industry bodies said Thursday.

The Fit sold 26,235 units, up 181.5 percent from a year earlier, thanks to robust demand for the hybrid's fuel economy (36.4 km per liter), according to the Japan Automobile Dealers Association and the Japan Mini Vehicles Association.

Ranking second was Toyota Motor Corp.'s Prius hybrid, with sales of 20,706 units, down 6 percent, followed by Honda's N Box minicar with sales of 19,513, up 18.9 percent.

Daihatsu Motor Co.'s Tanto minivehicle came fourth with sales of 19,246, up 56.1 percent, followed by Toyota's hybrid Aqua and Corolla.

Minivehicles, with engines up to 660cc, took six slots in the top 10 list, proving popular due to their lower maintenance cost and fuel efficiency.
