Swiss police said Wednesday that the body of a Japanese man who had been missing since mid-September in the canton of Valais has been found on a glacier.

The authorities have not determined the cause of death of Taishi Okamoto, 38, from Nara Prefecture. Foul play is not suspected, sources said.

The police investigating the case believe Okamoto was likely the victim of an accident. Okamoto checked out of a hotel in Saas-Fee, a scenic resort, on Sept. 15. The body was found on a glacier near Saas-Fee on Sept. 27. Okamoto had been traveling on his own.
