Toyota Motor Corp. on Monday launched the Agya compact car in Indonesia, it said, aiming to broaden its customer base in the emerging market with a low-priced, fuel-efficient vehicle.

The new compact developed by Toyota group company Daihatsu Motor Co. is priced from 99 million rupiah (about ¥850,000), to 120 million rupiah (about ¥1.03 million), Japan's largest automaker said. The company aims to sell 5,000 units each month.

In addition to the Toyota-brand Agya, Daihatsu launched the Ayla compact under its own brand, with prices starting from 76.1 million rupiah (about ¥650,000), Toyota said.
