Tokyo police said a man was apprehended Friday afternoon in Saitama Prefecture in connection with a knife attack on three elementary school boys in Tokyo's Nerima Ward.

The boys sustained neck and arm cuts during the attack, which occurred on a street near Oizumi Daiichi Elementary School in the early afternoon. They were immediately taken to a hospital and the police said their wounds are not life-threatening.

One of the victims is 7 while the other two are 6, the police said.

The assault took place in a residential area about 2 km from Oizumi Gakuen Station on the Seibu Ikebukuro Line.

The suspect, who fled by car after the attack, is about 30 years old and about 175 cm tall. The police are questioning him but have yet to disclose any details about him.
