Toyota Motor Corp. said Thursday that its group overseas production in May rose 0.6 percent from the year before to 510,508 units, a record high for the month.

Toyota boosted its production in North America, Central and South America and Australia, while its group company Daihatsu Motor Co. expanded output in Indonesia, the automaker said.

Honda Motor Co.'s overseas production increased 4.1 percent to 294,382 units, while that of Nissan Motor Co. fell 7.0 percent to 326,430 units.

Nissan's domestic vehicle output fell 30.0 percent from a year earlier to 58,960 units in May, while the figure for Honda dropped 27.9 percent to 53,400 units, the automakers said.

Domestic output of the Toyota group, also including Hino Motors Ltd., fell 0.9 percent to 350,159 units.
