Struggling Japanese electronics maker Sharp Corp. said Thursday it is looking to double its sales in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations region to ¥300 billion in the business year through March 2017, by expanding its electrical appliance operations.

Noboru Fujimoto, who is in charge of the company's operations in the Asia-Pacific, said that such products as air-conditioners, washing machines as well as refrigerators are expected to see high growth down the road in six main ASEAN markets.
