Kintetsu Department Store Co. has unveiled a food service area with 44 stores and 2,800 seats in Abeno Harukas, the new flagship store it is building in Osaka.

The department store chain said during Monday's preview that the food area, scheduled to open Thursday, will be one of the largest interior dining spaces in the nation.

Kintetsu is opening around 70 percent of the 60-story skyscraper complex, slated to become Japan's tallest high-rise, to commercial clients. The store itself will occupy the first 14 floors.

The entire Abeno Harukas complex is expected to open next spring and stand around 300 meters high.
