Battery maker GS Yuasa Corp. said Tuesday its Vietnamese subsidiary has decided to build a new motorcycle battery plant to double production capacity to 13 million units per year by 2017.
GS Battery Vietnam Co. already has a motorcycle battery plant at the Vietnam Singapore Industrial Park in Binh Duong Province and has secured a new plant site in the same park, planning to invest a total of ¥1.5 billion by 2017 for the capacity expansion.
The company sold 5.8 million motorcycle batteries in Vietnam in 2012, accounting for 60 percent of the local market share.
