Sony Corp. said Friday it will release a limited edition Walkman music player in mid-August with an image of Hatsune Miku etched on the back to commemorate the popular voice-synthesizer character's fifth anniversary.
Sony has started taking orders online for 3,939 units of the Walkman S series, which also features the digitally animated singer's image as wallpaper on the screen and comes with her songs preinstalled.
The device, available in blue or black, will retail for ¥12,800 or ¥15,800 for a version equipped with an external sound system.
