Wholesale prices rise for 18th month

Japanese wholesale prices rose 0.6 percent in March, marking the 18th straight month of growth on rising crude oil prices, the Bank of Japan said Thursday.

The index of corporate goods prices stood at 105.3 against the 2005 base of 100 from a year ago as rising energy costs from tensions over Iran’s nuclear development program, and an easing in the yen’s sharp appreciation led to higher import prices, the central bank said in a preliminary report.
