Softbank Corp. said Saturday it will buy the home stadium of its baseball club in Fukuoka from a Singapore corporation to slash usage fees and to have a freer hand in promoting the facility.
Softbank said it has agreed to acquire Fukuoka Yahoo! Japan Dome from Government of Singapore Investment Corp. for ¥87 billion by the end of this month. The Softbank Hawks use the facility as their home stadium.
Softbank has paid the corporation around ¥5 billion a year since 2007 for the right to use the stadium.
