Inoue to head broadcasters’ group

The National Association of Commercial Broadcasters in Japan is considering appointing Hiroshi Inoue, chairman of Tokyo Broadcasting System Holdings Inc., as its next president, several sources in the broadcasting industry said Saturday.

Inoue, 72, the association’s vice president, will replace Michisada Hirose, a 77-year-old corporate consultant at TV Asahi Corp., when his term expires at the end of March.

The association will formally ask Inoue on Thursday to assume the post for a two-year term, and he is expected to accept, the sources said. Hirose has been chairman since 2006.
