Former Yomiuri Giants general manager Hidetoshi Kiyotake sued the baseball club, its chairman and the Yomiuri Shimbun newspaper group Tuesday, seeking ¥62 million in damages, arguing he was unfairly dismissed and discredited by them.

The Giants fired Kiyotake on Nov. 18 after he divulged at a news conference club personnel decisions that apparently overrode his say-so regarding the coaching staff for next season, according to the suit filed with the Tokyo District Court.

He claims in the suit that Chairman Tsuneo Watanabe was behind an attempt to revoke a predetermined personnel issue and that he was discredited by Watanabe, who unfairly criticized him in a statement and media interview.
