Emperor Akihito was discharged Thursday from the University of Tokyo Hospital, where he was admitted for bronchial pneumonia Nov. 6, the Imperial Household Agency said.
His fever and coughing had almost disappeared by Wednesday, the agency said. A member of the team of doctors treating the Emperor said, “We want His Majesty to rest through the end of this month at the Imperial Palace and Imperial Residence.”
