Mitsubishi Motors Corp. said Tuesday it is negotiating with Suzuki Motor Corp. to supply an electric-powered van based on the Minicab-MiEV for sale under the Suzuki label.

By supplying the minivihicles to Suzuki from February, Mitsubishi aims to lower output costs and boost productivity.

MMC is due to market two models of the Minicab-MiEv in December with sales projected to reach 4,000 units by the end of March. One model can run some 100 km on a single electric charge and the other 150 km.

Mitsubishi has struck a similar deal to manufacture electric vehicles for sale by Nissan Motor Co. MMC meanwhile sells the Delica D:2 subcompact supplied by Suzuki.
