The Chinese fishing boat skipper who was arrested Sunday for allegedly trying to evade a boarding inspection by Japanese authorities while sailing in Japanese waters off Nagasaki Prefecture was freed Wednesday after paying a fine of ¥300,000.

Zhang Tianxiong, 47, was released by prosecutor office after being penalized for violation of the Japanese Fishery Law by the Nagasaki summary court. He was not charged with fishing without Japan’s permission because no evidence was found that he and other crew members engaged in poaching, the Nagasaki Coast Guard Office said.
