Nissan Motor Co.'s joint automobile production venture in China will nearly double its annual output capacity to 2.3 million units by the end of 2015 through an investment of about ¥610 billion, company President and CEO Carlos Ghosn said.

The investment will "ensure that China continues to be Nissan's largest global market," Ghosn said at a news conference in Beijing on Tuesday, announcing a new five-year business plan.

The capacity target is more than double Nissan's domestic production plan of 1 million units.
