OSAKA (Kyodo) A water main laid in 1961 in Osaka’s Nishi-Yodogawa district burst Friday, flooding about 200 meters of a street and damaging more than 10 houses.
According to the city’s water department, police received a phone call from a resident around 7:30 a.m., who reported water was shooting from the ground.
Municipal workers found that a water main for industrial use about 70 cm in diameter had ruptured.
