Eurus Energy Holdings Corp., Japan's leading wind power company, will help build the largest solar power plant in the United States.

Split between the three California locations of Sun City, Sand Drag and Avenal Park, the 45-megawatt plant made with solar panels manufactured by Sharp Corp. will start generating power in June 2011, according to Eurus Energy, which is owned 60 percent by Tokyo Electric Power Co. and the remainder by trading house Toyota Tsusho Corp.

The $220 million project is sponsored equally by Eurus and NRG Group of Princeton, N.J., and will produce enough electricity for 10,000 households, all of which will be sold to California's biggest power utility, Pacific Gas and Electric Co., under a 20-year sales agreement, it said.
