About 2,400 Ground Self-Defense Force personnel took part in an annual live-fire drill Sunday at the foot of Mount Fuji, using around 44 tons of ammunition in front of an estimated 28,000 spectators.

The drill featured 80 vehicles, including tanks and armored cars, and about 80 field guns as well as around 30 aircraft that together used about ¥350 million worth of ammunition at the Higashi Fuji Maneuver Area in Shizuoka Prefecture, the GSDF said.
