YOKOHAMA (Kyodo) A newborn baby wrapped in a towel was found Wednesday morning in front of a man’s residence in Konan Ward, Yokohama, police said.

The man found the girl in front of the entrance of his residence at around 7:30 a.m. and called the police immediately, they said.

The baby appears to be a few hours old and is healthy, according to the police.

“When my family came home at around 9:30 p.m. (Tuesday), the baby was not there,” the man said.

“I have no idea why the baby was placed in front of my residence.”
