NAGOYA (Kyodo) Toyota Motor Corp. will provide small vehicles to Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. to allow FHI to sell them under its own brand name, industry sources said Friday.

Toyota is apparently aiming to increase operations at its domestic factories with excessive production capabilities, while FHI would focus on producing its popular Subaru Legacy and other midsize cars.

Under the planned original equipment manufacturer deal, Toyota will annually provide around 10,000 cars with less than a 1,500cc engine capacity, the sources said.

Toyota and FHI concluded a comprehensive tieup in production and development in 2008. Toyota is the biggest shareholder in FHI, with a 16.55 percent stake.
