OTSU, Shiga Pref. (Kyodo) A train carrying an estimated 500 passengers on the JR Tokaido Line crashed Wednesday morning into a car at a crossing in Higashiomi, Shiga Prefecture, and dragged it around 80 meters, killing a man in the car, police said.
Parts of the car were sucked under the train, which wasn’t able to stop for another 400 meters. It did not derail. One passenger suffered a bruised hip, according to West Japan Railway Co.
