Snowstorms were feared in wide areas from western to northern Japan on Tuesday and Wednesday, the Meteorological Agency said, issuing a caution for strong winds, heavy snow, tidal surges and avalanches.
In mountainous areas, the Tohoku region could see 50 cm of snow in the 24 hours until 6 a.m. Wednesday, while the Hokkaido, Kanto, Hokuriku and Chugoku regions could have 50 cm. The Kinki region could log 40 cm of snow, the agency said.
