OITA (Kyodo) Prosecutors have indicted a high school teacher in Oita Prefecture without arrest over a bus accident in which a student was killed and dozens of others were injured.

Daiki Fuwa, 26, a teacher at Yanagigaura High School, has admitted driving the bus too fast and crashing into an expressway guardrail in July, leading to the death of a member of the school's baseball team and injuries to 37 students, the Oita District Public Prosecutor's Office said Monday.

According to the indictment, Fuwa drove the bus into a curve at 80 to 90 kph in a 40-kph zone at around 8:30 a.m. July 11.

The bus was heading for a ball field in the city of Oita, where the students were to attend the opening ceremony of the local chapter of the national high school baseball tournament.

Fuwa was arrested immediately after the incident and sent to the prosecutor's office, where he was later released.
