A businessman suspected of tax evasion gave ¥50 million in January 2008 to a man once considered a close aide to former Defense Minister Fumio Kyuma, sources said.

The ¥50 million came from Kazutaka Kito, 35, a former executive of investment house Corinthian Partners who was arrested Nov. 12 on suspicion of evading corporate taxes in connection with staffing agency Goodwill Group Inc.’s takeover of rival Crystal Co. Goodwill is now known as Radia Holdings Inc.
