The number of swine flu shots administered to adults should be reduced from two to one, a health ministry panel said Wednesday, citing a clinical study that shows the second shot is largely ineffective.
The change, if formally approved by the Health, Labor and Welfare Ministry, would help shorten the time required to inoculate the public as the H1N1 flu rapidly spreads in the face of an overall shortage of domestically produced vaccine.
