KYOTO (Kyodo) Four adults and two children on a fishing outing from Maizuru, Kyoto Prefecture, were rescued Monday morning by helicopter along a rocky stretch of coast, the Japan Coast Guard said.

Those rescued included Shigeyuki Kamon, 51, who runs a gardening business in the city, and Kamon's friends, Yoshio Hamada, 52, and Tatsuro Onishi, 48, the coast guard said. The identities of the remaining three — one woman and two children — were not immediately available.

All six were in good condition, although some sustained minor injuries, it said.

A coast guard chopper spotted the six clinging to the shore at around 7:30 a.m. and flew them to a hospital in Maizuru.

The 6-meter-long pleasure boat was found some 300 meters from where the six were found, the coast guard said.

Kamon took the boat out with his friends early Sunday. His mother alerted the coast guard after she couldn't reach him on his cell phone.
