TAKAMATSU, Kagawa Pref. (Kyodo) The city of Takamatsu will start dispatching art teachers to day care centers and nurseries in November in an effort to use art in teaching young children — a preschool education approach first developed in northern Italy.
Takamatsu officials said Friday they plan to send eight experts in sculpture, dyeing and other arts to nearly 30 day care centers and nurseries one to three times a week. The project is funded by the city and undertaken by a local nonprofit organization.
