Foreign Minister Katsuya Okada said Friday he favors moving the U.S. Marine Corps Air Station Futenma to the nearby U.S. Kadena Air Base, although Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama has indicated he wants the facility moved out of Okinawa altogether.
“I don’t think it’s an option,” Okada told reporters, referring to the possibility of moving the Futenma aircraft operations outside the prefecture.
